I can’t lie and say I don’t spend a large majority of my day thinking about the past, my time with Nick or perhaps what is to come without him.  However, as this year has moved forward my thoughts have progressed to wondering what Nick’s thoughts would have been towards a specific movie or an event in the media.  I even have my fair share of moments where I miss sports-related commentary.

I always felt Nick’s writing on the blog was a great way in which I was able to share him with the rest of the world.  To think that the nickannstreet website would have been as well received or followed as it was was an initial surprise to Nick.  The rest of us just wanted to read more of what he had to say!

Many people have mentioned to me how much they’ve missed Nick’s writing and their little routine of keeping tabs on the blog.  It took me almost 7 months before I could begin looking back and reading through his entries.  They take on different meanings for me now, but they also conjure up many more memories and emotions than they used to.  Essentially, it is my way of journeying with him again.  I have missed his constant wit and banter as well as how I marveled at his unbelievable intelligence and eye for the details I always missed.

In the past year, I was approached by some amazing and talented individuals who have been instrumental in a project of compiling some of Nick’s blogs into a book.  They had a vision and the drive to help make it happen as well as undeniable patience while working with me.  I don’t think they’ve realized how they have walked with me in the grief process and for that I am truly grateful.  I look at Running with Nick as a marvelous way to continue a lasting journey with Nick as well as another way he gives to others.  All proceeds from the book sales will be donated to The ALS-Therapy Development Institute for continued ALS research.

We entitled the book Running with Nick, which I don’t think could be any more appropriate.  We hope you’ll remember Nick through his writing, and that his words will make you smile, laugh and maybe even cry along with him.  Thank you, also, for playing a part in helping to fund further research for ALS.

You will find a link for an order form below.  The form can easily be printed out and sent in to the address included.  Please share the blog with people you think might be interested in the book or you may print out additional order forms to share.  We hope to begin the printing by the end of this summer.
